Anise, an Egyptian herb believed to have powers of protection, was said to have been used by the Romans in wedding cakes. Complex, yet superbly balanced, this sweet and aromatic herb imparts a mild flavor, reminiscent of fennel, to our aged dark balsamic vinegar. The resulting condiment makes a unique cheese complement and is equally delightful on sautéed dark greens and on desserts. Try with ice cream or roasted chicken.
